Student enrolment way up in Regina's public schools
Almost 800 more students are attending Regina's public schools this year compared to last. Higher enrolment should mean more funding coming from the government, as the provincial funding grant is partly based on enrolment. High school enrolment has dropped eight per cent since 2008, but Walter said in the next five years, high school enrolment will increase by 1,600 students. Public high schools will reach capacity by 2024, according to a March 2014 feasibility study considering a joint-use public/Catholic high school in southeast Regina.
