CBI to probe Kashipur 'custodial death'
The Uttarakhand High Court on Tuesday ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged custodial death of Ziyauddin Raza, who was found hanging inside Katoratal police station on February 28. The Division Bench of Chief Justice K M Joseph and Justice V K Bisht said the probe into Raza's death by the CB-CID would be transferred to the CBI. On March 22, the High Court had taken note of the case after Raza's father Mohammad Yameen (59) approached the court seeking a CBI probe.
ED summons Rabri Devi for questioning
The ED has sent summons to Rabri Devi to appear before it for questioning next week. On September 11 and 12, the CBI had summoned Lalu and Tejashwi for questioning but neither appeared. Sources said the ED had also summoned Rabri Devi last week, but she had sought more time on the ground of personal commitments. The two were alleged to be instrumental in transfer of the prime piece of land in Patna to the Lalu family.
Rabri Devi Summoned By Enforcement Directorate In Alleged Land Scam
Keeping up the pressure on Bihar politician Lalu Yadav's family that has been accused of corrupt land deals, the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday summoned Lalu Yadav's wife Rabri Devi to its Delhi office next week to record her statement. The CBI had raided the Yadav household after registering a case in July this year. Tax officials and the Enforcement Directorate had moved in soon after. Lalu Yadav has called the multiple cases that his family is facing as political vendetta.

BJD MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal Arrested in Chit Fund Scam, Party Says Centre Misusing Agencies
Senior BJD MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal has been arrested by the CBI in a chit fund scam, evoking a sharp reaction from Odisha's ruling party that on Tuesday accused the Centre of misusing investigative agencies. The CBI, probing the multi-crore Seashore Group chit fund scam, called the Cuttack-Choudwar legislator to its office here last night and subsequently arrested him, the agency sources said. Biswal's brother Arta Ranjan Biswal and lawyer Anup Senapati said the MLA was arrested and kept at CBI's State Headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
CBI carries out searches at 16 places in Rs 60 crore loan forgery case
The CBI has registered eight cases relating to alleged forgery in getting Rs 60 crore as loans from the Punjab National Bank PNB and carried out searches at 16 locations in Delhi and Ambala today. He said the funds received through credit facilities were allegedly diverted from the purpose they were taken for. CBI sources said that while the FIRs have separate accused, the common link allegedly was Deepak Gupta.
CBI court sends BJD MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal to 5-day custody
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Tuesday sent BJD MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal to five day custody. Biswal and his wife Laxmi Bilasini Biswal were under CBI scanner for over four years over a land deal with the dubious firm. Centre used CBI against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Lalu Prasad Yadav and even media promoter Pranoy Roy. On November 21, 2014, the sleuths had grilled Biswal and his wife at their regional office in Bhubaneswar for hours.
CBI interrogates WB minister Firhad Hakim
CBI officials interrogated West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim in connection with the Narada tapes scam. Hakim, a Triamool Congress senior leader, was subject to questioning by CBI officials on Monday at its Nizam Palace office here for nearly seven hours. Hakim was alleged to have to given consent to accept money from a businessman through an aide. Hakim later told waiting reporters that the Narada sting operation as a `conspiracy'. He had faced questioning both by the CBI and ED.

Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Prabhat Biswal was on Tuesday arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Seashore chit fund scam in Odisha. The Cuttack-Chowdwar BJD MLA was quizzed four times earlier in connection with a land deal with the Seashore Group chief Prasant Das, said sources. His wife Laxmibilasini Biswal was also earlier quizzed by the CBI regarding her involvement in the Jajpur Benapur land scam.
Pradyuman murder: CBI hasnt yet received Haryana govts notification for further investigation

Varun Thakur, the father of seven-year-old Pradyuman who was killed inside the Ryan Internatioanl School, Gurgaon, raised several questions over the district administration's intention following its decision to reopen the school. On Monday, he wrote to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to intervene and sought closure of the school till the CBI starts probe in his son's murder case. There is a great chance of destruction of evidence as the same teaching and non-teaching staff would attend the school, Thakur said.

Karti Chidambaram, the son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, on Monday complained that his fundamental rights as a citizen are under attack. When it finally came up after over two hours, the Bench asked Mr Sibal whether it could be re-scheduled. Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was representing CBI and said he could explain the case against Karti if provided an opportunity. Karti had filed an affidavit in court saying both his family and he were deeply hurt by the allegations.
Ryan school murder case: Prime accused retracts confessional statement, alleges police torture, school pressure
Prime accused in the murder of seven-year-old Ryan International School student, Pradyuman Thakur's murder, on Monday told a special CBI court that he was forced by the police to confess his crime. Last week, the police arrested the school bus driver and detained nine other school staffers. Kumar's lawyer Mohit Verma also told The Times of India that he was being made a scapegoat in the case.

Congress leader Ashok Chavan today alleged in the Bombay High Court that the decision of the Maharashtra governor in 2016 granting sanction to the CBI to prosecute him in the Adarsh housing society scam was politically motivated and biased. The February 2016 order passed by Governor C Vidyasagar Rao is motivated by change in political circumstances and not by any change in evidence.
